How a briefing is built.

A briefing reads your life as a sequence of dated chapters. Each chapter is a window on a single timing spine, computed from your birth Moon. This page names that spine, shows how the past and forward windows are measured and states what sits outside our scope.

01 What a window is

A window is a dated chapter, not a mood.

Every briefing is organised around inflection windows. A window is a specific stretch of dates during which one planetary lord governs the chapter of your life. It has a start date and an end date. It has a ruling planet whose signification sets the character of the period. It is not a vibe and it is not a general trend. It is a bounded interval you can put on a calendar.

The briefing sorts these windows into two groups. Past windows are the chapters the chart already marked, the ones you have lived through. Forward windows are the chapters opening ahead. Both are produced by the same mathematics. The only difference is which side of today they fall on.

02 The timing spine

One system dates every chapter.

The windows sit on a single timing spine called the Vimshottari system, the major planetary period sequence of classical Vedic astrology. It runs across a fixed span of one hundred and twenty years and hands each of the nine planetary lords a set number of years in a repeating order. Where you enter that order at birth is fixed by the exact position of your Moon.

The system nests. A major planetary period is the outer chapter, running anywhere from six to twenty years under a single lord. Inside it, a sub-period hands shorter stretches to each lord in turn, so a long chapter is itself divided into dated sub-chapters. A briefing reads at both levels, so a twenty-year era and a nine-month passage inside it are each a window with its own dates and its own governing planet.

03 How the boundaries are computed

The dates come from your Moon, to the arc second.

Where each window opens and closes is not estimated. It is computed from the exact longitude of the Moon at the moment of your birth. Planetary positions are produced with the Swiss Ephemeris library, the most widely used and rigorously validated ephemeris in modern astronomy and astrology. The tropical position is computed first, then converted to a sidereal position using the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa, the sidereal reference associated with the PVRN Rao lineage of modern Indian astrologers.

The Moon travels through twenty-seven equal segments of the sky. Its exact placement inside one of those segments at birth fixes two things at once. It fixes which lord your very first chapter belongs to, and it fixes how far into that chapter you were already born. From that single measured value, every major-period and sub-period boundary across your whole life unrolls by fixed arithmetic. Move the Moon by an arc minute and the dated boundaries shift. That is why arc-second precision matters here and why nothing is rounded.

04 Past windows

The chapters the chart already marked.

Past windows are the dated chapters that fall before today. Because they have already happened, they are observable and checkable against your lived history. A past window says a specific lord governed a specific stretch of your dates, and you can hold that against what actually moved in your life during those years. This is the calibration step. It is where the method earns trust before it is asked to look ahead.

A briefing surfaces the past windows that carried the most structural weight, names the ruling lord of each and states what kind of chapter that lord tends to open. You are meant to recognise these. If the dated chapters do not line up with your history, the read is telling you something and you should weigh it accordingly.

05 Forward windows

The same mathematics, projected ahead.

Forward windows are the dated chapters that fall after today. They are produced by exactly the same arithmetic that produced the past windows. Nothing new is introduced to look forward. The one hundred and twenty year sequence simply continues past the present date, and the next major-period and sub-period boundaries are read off the same spine.

Because a past window can be checked against lived history and a forward window is built from identical mathematics, the forward read inherits the credibility of the past read. A briefing names the forward windows opening in the years ahead, gives each its dates and its ruling lord and states the kind of chapter that lord tends to open. Each forward window is written with a reconciliation condition so it can be held or missed later against what actually occurs.

06 Focused and Full

One area in depth, or the whole chart end to end.

A briefing comes in two depths. Both read the same windows on the same spine. They differ in how much of the chart they document.

A Focused briefing reads one area of life across the past and forward windows. You choose career, love or money, and the whole document stays inside that domain. The relevant houses and their lords are traced through the dated chapters, so you see how one thread of your life moves across the timeline.

A Full briefing documents the whole chart end to end. Every major house and its lord, every significant past window and every forward window, are traced across the same timing spine. It is the complete structural record rather than a single thread through it.

07 Source texts

The classical Vedic corpus we work from.

The timing spine and the interpretation of each window are drawn from the established classical Vedic literature. The principles are well documented across the corpus. The editions we work from:

Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra Maharishi Parashara · 6-7c CE
The foundational text of Parashari astrology. The Vimshottari period sequence, house significations, planetary lordships and dignities. Edition: G.C. Sharma · 2-volume English · Ranjan Publications
Phaladeepika Mantreswara · 15c CE
Period interpretation, planetary effects and predictive principles used to characterise each window. Edition: G.S. Kapoor · Ranjan Publications
Saravali Kalyana Varma · 10c CE
Synthesis of Parashari principles with extensive lord and house-lord analysis. Edition: G.C. Sharma · Sagar Publications
Brihat Jataka Varahamihira · 6c CE
Earliest substantial Sanskrit treatise on natal astrology. Aspects and configurations. Edition: B. Suryanarain Rao
Modern interpreters B.V. Raman · K.N. Rao · K.S. Charak
Modern Parashari synthesis. K.N. Rao's work informs our use of the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa lineage. Multiple editions, primarily Ranjan Publications

The corpus is curated and grows over time. As additional texts are added, this page is updated with the editions used.

08 What we do not do

The scope, named.

A briefing is a reading of structural patterns. It is not advice. The following are explicitly out of scope and are referred to qualified professionals:

Our written voice avoids certain language patterns by policy. We do not use spiritual, cosmic, destiny, fate, soul, blessed, energy, vibration, aura, manifestation, abundance or divine-timing vocabulary. These are excluded because they are unfalsifiable and because they belong to a different register than the research-instrument tradition a briefing sits in.

We do not predict specific events. We do not name specific people. We do not give yes or no verdicts on specific transactions. A briefing identifies dated structural windows and the tendencies of their ruling lords. The decision and the act remain yours.

09 The audit record

Every window dated. Every forward window publicly reconcilable.

Each briefing is timestamped at the moment of generation. Each forward window includes an explicit reconciliation condition, a specific observable that would disprove the read if it is not met within the named dates.

"A career rerouting window opens September 2027. Reconciliation condition: a clean continuation of all current work commitments through December 2027 disproves this window."

When a forward window closes, it is reconciled as held or missed, and the record is updated. The audit register lives at /tracker on the Tempora site. The discipline is not that every window must hold. It is that every window must be checkable.
