DXY August 2026 close below 102 Jupiter Cancer US ninth house
Forward call · Markets and macro · Window opens 7 August 2026 · Reconciliation by 2 September 2026

DXY August 2026: a closing print below 102.

A four-week forward call on a single end-of-day print. This is the second firing of a signature that graded MET in July, which is what makes it a franchise rather than a fresh claim.

Tempora's call. The ICE US Dollar Index end-of-day closing print on the final trading day of August 2026 lands below 102.00.

This call is wrong if the DXY closes at or above 102.00 on that session. There is no partial credit and no directional grade. The verdict is published on the tracker either way.

Window 7 August to 31 August 2026. Reconciliation by 2 September 2026. Stated probability 0.65. Reference: ICE US Dollar Index end-of-day closing print.

The falsifier, before anything else

Most currency commentary is unfalsifiable by construction. It says the dollar looks soft, or that pressure is building, and no outcome can contradict it. This call states its own defeat condition in one line: a close at or above 102.00 on the last August session and the call is a miss, recorded as a miss, kept on the board.

The index closed at 99.80 on Friday 31 July 2026. The threshold sits 2.2 points above that. So the real question is narrow and answerable: does a 2.2-point move to the upside happen inside four weeks.

What the record already holds

This is the second firing of the same threshold. The first, the July 2026 call, graded MET when the index closed 99.80 against the same 102.00 line.

One prior instance is a precedent, not a base rate. A base rate needs a cohort, and this instrument does not have one yet. Where a frozen cohort does exist, as with the Nifty monthly close-band franchise and its 225-month history, the call quotes it. Here there is nothing to quote, and the stated probability of 0.65 is derived from the distance to the threshold rather than from a computed frequency. Saying so is more useful than borrowing the authority of a number that does not exist.

The chart-side mechanism

Transit Jupiter, exalted in sidereal Cancer under the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa, occupies the 9th house from the US 1776 Scorpio 22.77 ascendant across the whole August window. Jupiter moves from roughly Cancer 15 degrees to roughly Cancer 20 degrees over the month, remaining in deep exaltation throughout.

The 9th house in this framework governs foreign relations, long-distance commerce and trade reciprocity. The classical reading of an exalted Jupiter there is expansion of foreign reciprocity with a corresponding softening of the home currency against a trade-weighted basket. That is the same configuration the July call used, and repeating a mechanism rather than inventing one is what makes this a franchise instrument. A signature that only ever fires once cannot be tested.

Transit Saturn is retrograde in Pisces across the month, having stationed retrograde on 27 July 2026 and turning direct on 11 December 2026. Saturn retrograde is noted here as context rather than as part of the mechanism, since the call rests on the Jupiter placement alone.

Calibration tier: structural. No lift figure is claimed. The US calibrated corpus does not carry a scored signature for this instrument, so the mechanism is named and dated but its historical edge is not quantified. Read the calibration note for what that tier means and does not mean.

Limitations, stated plainly

A dollar index print is driven overwhelmingly by rate differentials, positioning and macro data flow. Nothing in this call claims otherwise, and nothing here should be read as a view on why the dollar moves. The claim is narrow: a chart-side configuration is named in advance, a threshold is fixed in advance, and the outcome is graded in public. Whether the two are connected is exactly what a public record is for, and two instances will not settle it.

This is not financial advice, and no part of this page is a recommendation to trade any instrument.

Verdict (reconciled 11 September 2026)

MET. The ICE US Dollar Index closed at 99.430 on Monday 31 August 2026, below the 102.00 test level. Any close at or above 102.00 would have fired FAILED.

Not a near miss. The index traded a 98.92 to 99.70 range across the final week of August and spent the whole month more than two points under the line. Second consecutive month met on this instrument after the 31 July close of 99.80.

The honest caveat. A threshold the market never approaches is a threshold that tested very little. This call was set in June when the level was closer to live, and the dollar simply stayed weak. We record it as met and note that its informational value is lower than the grade suggests.

Frequently asked

What exactly is the DXY August 2026 call?

The ICE US Dollar Index end-of-day closing print on the final trading day of August 2026 lands below 102.00. Any close at or above 102.00 fires FAILED. The window runs 7 August to 31 August 2026 and reconciliation is due by 2 September 2026.

What would make this call wrong?

A DXY close at or above 102.00 on the final August trading day. There is no partial credit and no directional grade on this instrument. The index closed 99.80 on 31 July 2026, so the call is asking whether a move of about 2.2 points to the upside happens inside a month.

Is there a base rate behind this?

Not a real one. This is the second instance of the threshold. The first graded MET, with the index closing 99.80 on 31 July 2026 against the same 102.00 line. One prior instance is a precedent rather than a base rate, and stating otherwise would misrepresent how much evidence sits behind the number. The stated probability of 0.65 comes from the distance to the threshold rather than from a computed frequency.

What is the chart-side mechanism?

Transit Jupiter exalted in sidereal Cancer occupies the 9th house from the US 1776 Scorpio 22.77 ascendant across August, moving from about 15 to about 20 degrees of Cancer. The 9th house governs foreign relations, long-distance commerce and trade reciprocity, and the classical reading of Jupiter exalted there is expansion of foreign reciprocity with a softening of the home currency against a trade-weighted basket. This is the same configuration the July call used.

What calibration tier is this?

Structural. No lift figure is claimed, because the US calibrated corpus does not carry a scored signature for this instrument. A structural tier means the mechanism is named and dated but its historical edge is not quantified, and the call is judged on its outcome rather than on a claimed advantage.

Where is the result published?

On the public tracker at tempora.ltd/tracker, graded MET or FAILED once the window closes, with the reconciliation note attached. Failed calls stay on the board beside the met ones.
