Nifty August 2026 monthly close band, India 1947 chart with Jupiter exalted in Cancer
Franchise call · Markets and macro · Window 07 to 31 August 2026 · Reconciliation by 03 September 2026

Nifty August 2026: monthly close inside the 3 percent band.

This call is wrong if the Nifty 50 August 2026 monthly close prints outside 23,652.09 to 25,115.11, on either side of the band.

Instance three of a monthly franchise. Each month the same falsifiable shape publishes with its band, its base rate and a stated probability, then grades in public against the NSE close. Two instances have graded so far and both landed MET. Two is not a record, and this page says so before it says anything else.

Tempora's call. The Nifty 50 official monthly close for August 2026 (NSE end-of-day, final trading session of the month) prints within 3 percent of the July 2026 close of 24,383.60: the band is 23,652.09 to 25,115.11 inclusive. Inside the band fires MET. Outside, either side, fires FAILED.

Stated probability: 0.60. Calibration tier: structural, not calibrated to a lift figure. The franchise base is two graded instances, both MET, which is too thin to carry a hit rate. The unconditional base rate does most of the work here and the article quotes it rather than hiding it. Window 7 August to 31 August 2026. Reconciliation on the final NSE session of August, published by 3 September 2026.

The base rate, stated before the argument

Two prior instances of this franchise have graded, and both were MET. June 2026 closed at 101.35 percent of the May close, inside a 97 to 103 percent band. July 2026 closed at 24,383.60 against a band of 23,149.78 to 24,581.72, a move of 2.17 percent from the June close of 23,865.75. Two of two is a thin base. It is not a hit rate, it is two data points, and anyone reading this series should treat the franchise record as unestablished until it has enough closed windows to test.

The unconditional base rate is the number that deserves the weight. A 3 percent band either side is a 6 percent total target on a monthly index close, and that is a wide target. On the frozen 225-month cohort behind this franchise (^NSEI monthly closes, September 2007 through June 2026) a month lands inside a 3 percent band of its predecessor 45.3 percent of the time across the full history and 52.2 percent of the time in the 2015-onward regime (n=138). Restricting the same series to August months alone, 12 of the 18 Augusts from 2008 to 2025 held the band, which is 66.7 percent on a sample small enough that the confidence interval around it is wide.

That is why the stated probability is 0.60 rather than something lower. The number is high because the target is wide, not because the reading is strong. A call with a 0.60 stated probability against a 0.522 regime base rate is claiming roughly eight points of tilt. Eight points is a modest claim and the franchise exists precisely so that a claim that size can be measured over a series instead of asserted once.

Chart-side mechanism

The reading is taken on the canonical India 1947 chart, which is Taurus rising. Two slow transits define August on that lagna.

Transit Saturn is retrograde in Pisces across the whole month. It stationed retrograde on 27 July 2026 and does not station direct until 11 December 2026, so August sits in the early part of a long retrograde arc with no direction change inside the window. Pisces is the 11th sign from a Taurus lagna, the house of gains, income flows and the large associations a market runs on. Saturn there is the slow planet in the gains house, and retrograde it reads as review rather than accrual: existing positions get re-examined, gains arrive later than they are expected, and the month has a natural resistance to a clean upward break.

Transit Jupiter is exalted in Cancer through the month, moving from roughly 15 degrees to roughly 20 degrees between 7 and 31 August (computed against the engine on the Swiss Ephemeris with True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa; the Cancer occupancy runs 27 May 2026 to 23 October 2026 on the fact sheet). Cancer is the 3rd sign from a Taurus lagna. The 3rd is an effort house: initiative, communication, short movements, the daily work of a market rather than its structural direction. Jupiter is at its strongest dignity here but placed where it expands activity rather than outcome. Exalted Jupiter in the 3rd is a busy month, not a decisive one.

Put together, a slow retrograde planet in the gains house and an expansive planet in the effort house is the chart-side argument for a month that moves without going anywhere in particular. That reading is directionally consistent with a band month. It is also a soft argument and the tier says so: structural, not calibrated. Tempora's calibrated corpus carries no monthly-band signature on the India chart with a measured lift, so no lift figure is quoted and the tilt over the base rate stays at eight points.

The limitation is worth naming in the same breath. A configuration this slow is present for months at a time, which means it cannot distinguish one August from another. Anything that reads as background rather than trigger has a low ceiling on how much it can add to a base rate, and this reading is background.

Test condition and falsifier

MET: the Nifty 50 August 2026 monthly close prints inside 23,652.09 to 25,115.11 inclusive. FAILED: any monthly close outside that band, either side. The reference is the NSE official Nifty 50 end-of-day closing print on the final trading session of August 2026, which on the published NSE calendar is Monday 31 August.

The live branches out of the band are named now rather than after the fact:

Roughly half of all months leave a 3 percent band. The failure branch on this call is not remote and the article does not present it as remote.

The series

InstanceWindowBandVerdict
1Jun 202697 to 103 percent of the May closeMET at 101.35 percent
2Jul 202623,149.78 to 24,581.72MET at 24,383.60
3Aug 202623,652.09 to 25,115.11Open

Each instance publishes before the month is over, grades within days of the monthly close and lands on the public tracker with its receipt attached. The cohort updates with every verdict. Whether the chart-side layer adds anything beyond the base rate is a question the graded series can answer and a single month cannot, which is the entire reason the franchise is run as a series and the reason no lift is claimed yet.

Verdict (reconciled 11 September 2026)

MET. The Nifty 50 closed August 2026 at 24,080.40 on Monday 31 August, against a July close of 24,383.60. The move was minus 1.24 per cent and the test band ran 23,652.09 to 25,115.11, plus or minus 3 per cent. The print sits well inside it.

The franchise record. Three consecutive months inside the band: June at plus 1.35 per cent, July at plus 2.17 and August at minus 1.24. All three were published before the month closed. The instrument commits to a magnitude and can fail in either direction, which is what makes a quiet month a real forecast.

Where the risk actually was. August drifted down through its final week, from 24,334.55 on the 25th to 24,080.40 on the 31st. A continuation of that slope for another two weeks would have taken the index toward the lower band edge. The call cleared with roughly 1.8 percentage points of room on the downside.

Frequently asked

What is the Nifty August 2026 call?

The Nifty 50 monthly close for August 2026 prints within 3 percent of the July close of 24,383.60, a band of 23,652.09 to 25,115.11 inclusive. Inside fires MET; outside fires FAILED. Stated probability 0.60. Reconciliation on the final NSE session of August, by 3 September 2026.

What would make this call wrong?

Any Nifty 50 August 2026 monthly close outside 23,652.09 to 25,115.11, either side, fires FAILED. Named live branches: an inflation or policy print that moves rate expectations inside the month, a currency shock transmitted through the dollar basket, or a global risk event large enough to move the index more than 3 percent from the July close.

What is the base rate on this franchise?

Two prior graded instances, both MET. June 2026 closed at 101.35 percent of the May close; July 2026 closed 24,383.60 inside a 23,149.78 to 24,581.72 band. Two of two is a thin base and does not establish a hit rate. The unconditional base rate matters more here: a 3 percent band either side is a 6 percent total target on a monthly index close, which months hold 45.3 percent of the time across the frozen 225-month cohort, 52.2 percent in the 2015-onward regime and 12 of 18 August months on the same series.

What is the chart-side mechanism?

Read on the India 1947 Taurus-rising chart. Transit Saturn is retrograde in Pisces across August, the 11th sign from a Taurus lagna, having stationed retrograde on 27 July 2026 and not stationing direct until 11 December 2026. Transit Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, the 3rd sign from that lagna, moving from about 15 degrees to about 20 degrees across the month. A retrograde Saturn in the gains house and an exalted Jupiter in an effort house read as a month of consolidation rather than a directional break. Calibration tier: structural. No lift figure is quoted.

Why is the stated probability high?

Because the target is wide, not because the reading is strong. A 6 percent total band on a monthly index close is a large area to land in. The stated 0.60 sits above the 2015-onward regime base rate of 52.2 percent and below the 12-of-18 August-month figure. The chart-side layer supplies a tilt of a few points, not a transformation of the odds.
