Naamkaran and Mundan Muhurat 2027: 142 and 111 Computed Dates

Two child ceremonies on two different nakshatra sets. All 365 days of 2027 were run against each. The naming ceremony admits 142 days and the first tonsure admits 111. Mundan carries one rule a calendar cannot apply, and this page says so where other lists stay quiet.
The rule a calendar cannot apply
Mundan excludes the child's own birth nakshatra. That is a per chart rule: it depends on where the Moon stood at the child's birth, so no published list can honour it. Every mundan calendar on the internet, this one included, is therefore an upper bound. Roughly one day in twenty seven on the list below will be the wrong day for any given child, and which one it is cannot be known from a calendar. Naamkaran carries a related convention. It is traditionally held on the eleventh or twelfth day after birth, which means the family rarely chooses freely from a year of dates. What the calendar layer answers is whether the day that falls on that count is admissible at all, and what the nearest admissible day is when it is not.
Naamkaran 2027, 142 admitted days
Admitted nakshatras: Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. Rikta tithis and amavasya are removed, and malmas is observed.
January 2027. 9 admitted: 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 22, 27, 28, 29.
February 2027. 11 admitted: 7, 8, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19, 23, 25, 26, 28.

Admitted nakshatras: Ashwini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Jyeshtha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha and Revati. The set is narrower than naamkaran, which is why the count is lower. The child's birth nakshatra exclusion still applies on top of this list.

Why both lists empty in the same months
Malmas removes the solar months in sidereal Sagittarius and Pisces from both, which takes out mid December to mid January and mid March to mid April. Chaturmas does not apply to either ceremony, which is why the monsoon months stay populated here while the marriage and housewarming calendars are empty across the same stretch.
What this list does not do
A muhurat is personal. The same date reads differently against two birth charts, and the dasha a person is running and the strength of the relevant house lord both change which of these days is the right one. This table is the calendar layer. The per chart layer is Kaal Imprint.
Method
Positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris at a 06:00 IST reference hour under the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa by PVRN Rao. Tithi is the angular separation of Moon and Sun in twelve degree steps. One generator serves every life event on this site and takes the admitted nakshatra set and the suspension rules as inputs, so the difference between one ceremony and another is a stated configuration, and the filters applied to each page are listed on that page in full.
Questions
How many naamkaran muhurat dates are there in 2027?
142 days across the year clear the classical filters. The count is high because the admitted nakshatra set for a naming ceremony is wide and chaturmas does not apply.
How many mundan muhurat dates are there in 2027?
111 days clear the calendar filters. The real number for any particular child is lower, because mundan additionally excludes the child's own birth nakshatra, which a calendar cannot know.
Why does mundan exclude the birth nakshatra?
The tradition holds that the first tonsure should avoid the nakshatra the Moon occupied at birth. It is a per chart rule, so every published mundan list is an upper bound until a chart is computed.
Is naamkaran always on the eleventh or twelfth day?
That is the common convention, which means the family usually has one or two candidate days. The calendar layer answers whether that day is admissible and names the nearest admissible day when it is not.
Can these ceremonies be held during chaturmas?
Yes. Chaturmas suspends marriage and housewarming. Child ceremonies are outside that restriction, which is why these lists stay populated through the monsoon months.
