Marriage Muhurat 2027: 57 Vivah Dates Computed, 308 Days Rejected

Published 16 August 2026 · Last updated 16 August 2026

The 2027 vivah muhurat calendar, computed rather than compiled. All 365 days of 2027 were run against six classical filters. 57 days cleared every filter and 308 were removed, each with the rule that removed it. Five of those 308 are removed by one rule alone.

Every marriage muhurat list answers the same question, and almost none of them show the working. This page publishes the 2027 vivah dates together with the arithmetic that produced them, so a reader can check any date against the rule that admitted it and check any missing date against the rule that removed it.

The six filters are the conventional ones: the vivah nakshatra set, rikta tithis and amavasya, malmas, chaturmas, the combustion of Jupiter and Venus, then a weekday grade. They are applied in that order to every day of the year. The output is 57 dates.

57 dates admitted for 2027. 308 days rejected. 5 of those rejections turn on a single rule that almanac based lists do not apply.

57 plus 308 is 365, the full length of 2027. Every day of the year is accounted for in one column or the other.

The five dates that a combustion check removes

Five days in 2027 clear every other filter on this page and are removed by one rule on their own. Venus is combust on each of them, inside the 9 degree orb from the Sun that the classical texts set for Shukra asta. The five are 14 July, 4 August, 6 August, 8 August and 11 August 2027.

On nakshatra, on tithi, on paksha and on weekday these five read as clean vivah days. 14 July carries Anuradha with Shukla Ekadashi. 4 August carries Magha, 6 August carries Hasta, 8 August carries Swati and 11 August carries Anuradha, all in the bright half. A list built from the almanac alone, without a check on where Venus actually sits relative to the Sun, will carry all five as auspicious.

This is offered as a checkable difference rather than a claim about anyone else's work. Take any 2027 marriage muhurat list, look for those five dates, then compute the Sun to Venus separation on each and compare it with the 9 degree orb. The arithmetic settles it either way.

Venus is the karaka of marriage in the classical scheme, and Shukra asta is among the most commonly cited disqualifiers for a wedding date. It is also the filter most often absent from a published list, because it needs a planetary position rather than an almanac lookup. Venus combustion removed 65 days from 2027 in total. For 60 of them another filter had already removed the day. For 5 it stood alone.

The August cluster has a second reason to be interesting. The window from 3 to 11 August 2027 sits before Devshayani Ekadashi, so it clears chaturmas and looks open. All nine of those days have Venus combust. Four of the nine clear everything else and rest on that rule by itself.

The 57 dates

Grouped by month. Tithi is numbered 1 to 30 across the lunar month, so 1 to 15 is the bright half ending at Purnima and 16 onward is the dark half, with 16 as the first day of the waning fortnight. Grade reports the weekday convention: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are marked favoured, and Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday are admitted with a note, since practice on them varies by region and by family.

Why this list is shorter than others

308 days of 2027 were removed. A day can carry more than one reason, so the counts below add to more than 308.

RuleDays it removed
Nakshatra outside the vivah set215
Chaturmas109
Rikta tithi73
Venus combust65
Malmas, Sun in sidereal Pisces or Sagittarius60
Jupiter combust29
Amavasya13

Three of these rules account for most of the difference between this list and a longer one. The nakshatra filter is the largest single cut at 215 days, and it is applied on the common core of 11 nakshatras that the published schools agree on rather than on the widest set. Chaturmas removes 109 days. The two combustion rules together remove 94 days, 65 for Venus and 29 for Jupiter, and these are the rules an almanac lookup tends to skip.

A longer list is not therefore wrong. It is usually a list built on a wider nakshatra set, or one that treats combustion as advisory. What matters is that the reader can see which choice produced which number. Every count above can be reproduced from the same ephemeris.

Four gaps shape the year. August, September and October carry nothing, which is chaturmas, the stretch from Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi to Kartika Shukla Ekadashi. The early August window that clears chaturmas is closed by Venus combustion instead, so the result is still zero.

The second gap runs from 12 March to 17 April. That is malmas, with the Sun in sidereal Pisces. The third closes the second half of December, when the Sun enters sidereal Sagittarius on the same malmas rule, which is why the December column stops at 14 December. The same Sagittarius transit is why January opens on 14 January rather than on the first of the month.

May is the fullest month of 2027 at 10 dates, followed by June and November at 8 each. July has 3, and all of them fall before Devshayani Ekadashi.

What this list does not do

This is the calendar layer only. It reports which days of 2027 the shared almanac and the planetary positions admit for a marriage. It does not compute either partner's birth chart, and it does not rank the 57 dates against each other for a particular couple.

That boundary matters, because a muhurat is personal. The same date reads differently against two different charts, and the dasha periods each partner is running, the position of the seventh lord in each chart and the Moon in each nativity all change which of these 57 dates is the right one. A calendar cannot answer that, and any page that presents a shared list as a personal answer is overstating what the list contains.

The compatibility layer sits at Kaal Match, which reads two charts against each other. The chart layer sits at Kaal Imprint, which reads one. Neither replaces a family astrologer and neither is required to use the table above. The table stands on its own as a calendar, and the two products are where the per chart question is answered.

For the mechanics behind the filters rather than the dates they produce, the wedding muhurta calculation note sets out the five panchanga factors and the exclusion windows in full. The wider muhurta series covers the other election types.

Method

Positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris under the PVRN Rao True Pushya ayanamsha, which fixes the sidereal zero point at the start of Pushya. Each day of 2027 is sampled once, at 06:00 IST, which is 00:30 UT, as an approximation of sunrise. A single daily sample is the same convention a printed panchanga uses, and it means a date near a tithi or nakshatra boundary can differ by one day from a list that samples at a different hour or for a different city.

The filters run in this order. First the nakshatra of the Moon must fall in the vivah set of Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. Second, rikta tithis 4, 9 and 14 are removed along with amavasya, in both fortnights. Third, malmas removes any day with the Sun in sidereal Sagittarius or Pisces. Fourth, chaturmas is derived from the tithi and the solar month rather than entered by hand. Fifth, Jupiter and Venus must not be combust, at the classical orbs of 11 degrees for Jupiter and 9 degrees for Venus. Sixth, the weekday sets the grade rather than removing the day.

The schools differ on the nakshatra set, which is the one place where a choice had to be made. Some admit Ashwini and Chitra. Some drop Magha and Mula on gandanta grounds. Rather than fold the contested groups in quietly and publish a longer list, the common core of 11 was used and the disagreement is stated here. A reader who follows a school that admits Ashwini and Chitra will find more dates than 57, and knowing which rule produced the difference is the point of publishing the method.

The dates are generated by script from the ephemeris and are not edited by hand. Tempora's forward calls and their outcomes are logged on the tracker.

Questions

How many marriage muhurat dates are there in 2027?

Fifty seven. Tempora computed all 365 days of 2027 against six classical vivah filters and 57 days cleared every one of them. The remaining 308 days each carry at least one stated reason for removal. The count is 57 rather than the larger figures some lists publish because the planetary combustion check is applied alongside the almanac checks.

Which months of 2027 have no marriage muhurat dates?

August, September and October carry no admitted dates, and the second half of December carries none. Chaturmas closes most of the August to October stretch. The Sun entering sidereal Sagittarius closes the calendar from 15 December. There is also a gap from 12 March to 17 April, which is malmas with the Sun in sidereal Pisces. May is the fullest month of 2027 with 10 admitted dates.

Why do some 2027 marriage muhurat lists show dates in August?

The window from 3 to 11 August 2027 sits before Devshayani Ekadashi, so it clears chaturmas. Every one of those nine days has Venus combust, inside the 9 degree orb from the Sun. Four of them clear every other filter on this page and are removed by that single rule: 4 August, 6 August, 8 August and 11 August. A list that checks the almanac without checking planetary positions will carry them.

Which nakshatras were admitted for marriage in 2027?

Eleven: Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. This is the common core that the published schools agree on. Some schools also admit Ashwini and Chitra, and some drop Magha and Mula on gandanta grounds. Those contested groups were left out rather than folded in quietly, which makes this list shorter than a list built on the widest nakshatra set.

Does this list pick the wedding date for a specific couple?

No. This is the calendar layer only. It reports which days of 2027 the shared almanac and the planetary positions admit, and it does not compute either partner's birth chart. A muhurat is personal, and the same date reads differently against two different charts, so the couple's own charts decide which of these 57 dates suits them.

How were the 2027 vivah dates computed?

With the Swiss Ephemeris under the PVRN Rao True Pushya ayanamsha, sampling each day at 06:00 IST as an approximation of sunrise. Six filters are applied in order: the vivah nakshatra set, rikta tithis and amavasya, malmas, chaturmas, Jupiter and Venus combustion, then weekday grading. Every admitted and rejected day carries the rule that decided it.

This page was first published on 16 August 2026 and last updated on 16 August 2026. It documents conventional Vedic teaching on vivah muhurta selection and reports the 2027 dates as computed by Tempora Research from the Swiss Ephemeris under the PVRN Rao True Pushya ayanamsha, sampled at 06:00 IST. A muhurat marks a traditionally favoured window for an act and is not a forecast of any outcome. Schools differ on the contested nakshatras and on the strictness of the combustion rule, so a list computed on different assumptions will differ from this one.
