Saturn transit 2025 to 2028: exact sidereal dates, sign by sign

Saturn is the slowest classical timekeeper: roughly two and a half years per sign, one full lap of the zodiac in about 29.4 years. When it changes sign, one wall of every birth chart takes up new weight at the same moment. This page carries the dated boundary between Pisces and Aries, explains why these dates differ from most listings and shows how to read the transit against your own chart.

The dates, in one place. Under the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa, computed with Swiss Ephemeris, Saturn entered Pisces on 20 March 2025, enters Aries on 23 May 2027, retrogrades back into Pisces on 4 November 2027 and re-enters Aries to stay on 11 February 2028. Listings computed with Lahiri put these boundaries elsewhere; the difference is an anchor choice, not an ephemeris error. This page is context and method, not a scored forecast. Tempora's dated forward calls live on the Tracker and its experimental register on the Lab.

What a Saturn transit is, mechanically

A transit is the simplest layer of Vedic timing: take the planet's position in the sky today and place it against the twelve houses of a birth chart. Saturn's orbital period is about 29.4 years, so it averages roughly two and a half years per sign, drifting about two degrees per month when moving direct. Nothing else in the classical toolkit moves this slowly, which is why Saturn's sign changes function as the coarse ticks of the system's clock. Jupiter re-weights a house for about a year, the Sun for a month, the Moon for two and a half days. Saturn parks.

The two and a half years is an average, not a fixed term, because Saturn retrogrades for roughly four and a half months every year. When a retrograde loop straddles a sign boundary, one ingress becomes three events: a first entry, a retreat back into the old sign and a final entry that holds. That is exactly the shape of the 2027 to 2028 Aries boundary below, and it is normal Saturn behaviour rather than an anomaly. The practical consequence is that both signs stay live for the better part of a year around any boundary, and any reading that treats a single ingress date as a hard switch is over-reading the instrument.

One more mechanical layer matters before the dates: Saturn does not only load the house it occupies. Classical teaching gives Saturn full aspects on the 3rd, 7th and 10th signs counted from its position, a geometry unpacked in Saturn's 3rd and 10th aspects. A single Saturn placement therefore touches four houses at once, which is part of why its sign changes register so widely. And transits are still only the surface layer of timing: the dasha sequence running underneath a chart, covered in the mahadasha treatment of Saturn for Saturn's own period, usually matters more than any single transit. A Saturn transit read without the running dasha is half a reading.

The dates: 2025 to 2028 under True Pushya Paksha

These are the boundary dates this site computes from Swiss Ephemeris positions under the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa. Every Saturn-dated page in the Tempora corpus uses this same table.

EventDateWhat it opens
Saturn enters Pisces20 March 2025The Pisces pass, running to May 2027
Saturn enters Aries (first pass)23 May 2027First taste of the Aries configuration; see Saturn transit 2027
Saturn retreats into Pisces4 November 2027A retrograde encore of the Pisces configuration
Saturn re-enters Aries to stay11 February 2028The Aries pass proper, holding until 2030

Read as one sequence: Pisces carries the load from March 2025, Aries opens as a five and a half month preview from May 2027, Pisces gets a final three month encore from November 2027 and the Aries configuration settles for good in February 2028. Anyone tracking a Pisces-house theme in their chart gets a replay before it closes; anyone anticipating the Aries themes gets a preview before they consolidate. The 2027 year page walks the three Aries boundary events in detail.

Why these dates differ from most published dates

Search any of these ingresses and the first page of results will disagree with this table, usually by weeks. The reason is upstream of the ephemeris. Sidereal positions require an ayanamsa, the correction that anchors the zodiac to the stars rather than to the equinox, and the anchor is a convention rather than an observation. Most published Vedic dates, including most panchanga software and most transit listings, use the Lahiri ayanamsa, the Indian government's official standard. Tempora computes with True Pushya Paksha, an anchor set to the centre of the Pushya nakshatra, which sits roughly a tenth of a degree away from Lahiri in the current era.

A tenth of a degree sounds like nothing until you put it against Saturn's speed. Moving direct, Saturn covers a tenth of a degree in about three days, so a clean boundary crossing shifts by days between the two anchors. Near a retrograde station the geometry gets steeper: Saturn slows to a crawl, and the same angular offset can move a boundary date by weeks, or flip which side of a station a crossing lands on, stretching the difference to months. So the disagreement between this table and a Lahiri listing is expected and mechanical, not a mistake on either side. The full argument for the anchor choice is in True Pushya Paksha vs Lahiri, and if the two-zodiac question itself is new, sidereal vs tropical covers the layer beneath: why sidereal dates differ from Western tropical dates in the first place, where the gap is not a tenth of a degree but roughly 24.

The honest limitation runs both ways: no backtest so far cleanly separates the two anchors on outcomes, so the choice rests on the nakshatra-centred argument rather than on a decisive scoreboard. Treat any site's boundary dates, including these, as carrying that assumption.

How to read a Saturn transit against your own chart

The sign Saturn occupies is the same for everyone. What differs is which house that sign is in your chart, and there are two counts.

From the ascendant. With whole sign houses your rising sign is the first house and the count proceeds around the zodiac, so Saturn in Aries is a first house transit for an Aries ascendant, a seventh house transit for a Libra ascendant and a twelfth house transit for a Taurus ascendant. The house names the life area under structural load: the tenth is career scaffolding, the seventh is partnership, the fourth is home and foundations. The 2027 by ascendant series rotates the full transit skeleton through all twelve rising signs; the Aries, Libra and Pisces pages carry the three sharpest Saturn stories of the boundary. For the register of Saturn in a specific house independent of year, the house pages such as Saturn in the 10th house go deeper.

From the Moon. Classical practice runs a second count from the natal Moon for the emotional and mental register. The special case everyone has heard of is sade sati: the roughly seven and a half year window when Saturn crosses the 12th sign from your Moon, the Moon sign itself and the 2nd, in three phases of about two and a half years each. It has its own literature and its own page: what sade sati is covers the mechanics and sade sati 2027 to 2030 by rashi carries the dated phase table for every Moon sign under the same ayanamsa as this page. Saturn's aspect geometry also touches the Moon count; Saturn's aspect on the Moon treats that contact directly.

The conventional weighting: read the ascendant count first for concrete life areas, the Moon count second for internal weather, and treat months flagged by both counts as heavier. Then hold all of it lightly against two limits. Sign-level reading is the coarsest resolution the toolkit offers; degree-level contacts to natal planets and the running dasha both refine it, and both are chart-specific in a way a public page cannot be. And an uncertain birth time can shift the ascendant by a sign in under two hours, which moves every house assignment by one. If you want the two counts computed for your own chart rather than estimated, Kaal runs birth data through the same ephemeris and ayanamsa this page uses and reads the transit against your actual houses.

Saturn in Pisces: 20 March 2025 to 23 May 2027

Pisces is the zodiac's twelfth sign, the register of endings, retreat, institutions, backstage work and dissolution, ruled by Jupiter and holding no particular dignity or debility for Saturn. The conventional reading of this pass has been Saturn doing structural work on precisely the things that resist structure: unfinished business, quiet costs, work done away from the scoreboard. For the two Moon signs inside the sade sati window during this pass, Aquarius Moons have been in the setting phase and Pisces Moons at the peak, both dated in the rashi table.

On the mundane side, Tempora's sector work has used this pass as a lens on services and export-facing industries; Indian IT under Saturn in Pisces is the worked example, treating the 2025 to 2027 window as a consolidation phase for the sector's structure rather than a directional call on any stock. The usual limitation applies with extra force on sector pieces: a sign-level transit is one input among many, and sector outcomes are dominated by factors no transit table sees.

The retrograde retreat of 4 November 2027 to 11 February 2028 belongs to this section as much as to the next: it is the Pisces configuration's closing encore, a final quarter in which whatever the 2025 to 2027 pass was building or dissolving gets one more visit before the door closes for 29 years.

Saturn in Aries: 2027 to 2030, the debilitation register

Aries is Saturn's classical debilitation sign, the placement where the tradition considers the planet least at home. Stripped of the ominous vocabulary, the mechanics are a temperament mismatch: Aries is the register of speed, initiative and unilateral starts, and Saturn's method is slow, cumulative and structural. The conventional reading of a debilitated Saturn transit is that effort feels heavier and returns arrive later than the effort seems to warrant, that shortcuts get audited and that impatience becomes expensive. It is a friction reading, not a loss reading: output built during such a pass is still real, and classical sources carve out explicit relief clauses, including cancellation conditions that individual charts can meet. What happens when Saturn enters Aries unpacks the register in full and the debilitation window piece treats the boundary months specifically.

Two cohorts get named chapters inside this pass. Anyone born with Saturn in Aries, broadly the 1996 to 1998 sidereal cohort, meets their first Saturn return at 29 during this transit, with the cohort-specific reading in Saturn return in Aries 2027 to 2030. And the Moon signs entering or holding sade sati phases across the pass, Aries at the peak with Taurus and Pisces on the flanks, are dated sign by sign in the rashi table.

On the mundane ledger, Tempora reads Aries as the sign of engines, metals, defence and unilateral initiative, which is why the sector pieces for this window cluster around energy and hardware: EV and clean energy under Saturn in Aries and crude oil under Saturn in Aries carry those readings, each with its own limitations section. Where any of this hardens into a dated, testable statement, it leaves this page and goes to the Tracker with a written test condition; this hub deliberately stays at the context layer.

The Saturn shelf, in one place

This page is the transit entry point to a larger Saturn cluster. The Saturn hub indexes all of it: the twelve house placements, the mahadasha and antardasha pages, the return pages and the sector work. For the transit thread specifically, the natural next steps are the 2027 year page for the ingress detail and your own rising sign's page in the ascendant series for the house-level reading.

Frequently asked

When does Saturn change signs next?

Under the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa Saturn enters Aries on 23 May 2027. Retrogression carries it back into Pisces on 4 November 2027 and the final Aries entry, the one that holds, comes on 11 February 2028. Saturn then stays in Aries until 2030. Listings computed with Lahiri place these boundaries on different dates, which is an ayanamsa difference rather than an ephemeris error.

Why do Saturn transit dates differ between websites?

Because sidereal positions depend on the ayanamsa, the correction that anchors the sidereal zodiac against the stars. Most published Vedic dates use Lahiri. Tempora computes with True Pushya Paksha, which sits roughly a tenth of a degree away from Lahiri in the current era. Saturn covers a tenth of a degree in about three days of direct motion, and near a retrograde station the same offset can move a boundary date by weeks to months. Neither anchor is wrong; they are different commitments about where the sidereal zodiac starts.

What is sade sati?

Sade sati is the roughly seven and a half year window when Saturn transits the sign before your natal Moon, the Moon sign itself and the sign after it, in three phases of about two and a half years each. It is the special case of Saturn transit reading counted from the Moon rather than the ascendant. Tempora's dedicated explainer and the 2027 to 2030 phase table by Moon sign cover the mechanics and the dated windows.

Is Saturn in Aries bad?

Aries is Saturn's classical debilitation sign, which in plain terms means the tradition expects Saturn's style of slow structured work to sit awkwardly with Aries's register of speed and initiative. The conventional reading is that effort feels heavier and less rewarded per unit during this pass, not that outcomes are uniformly negative. Which life areas carry that friction depends entirely on which house Aries occupies in an individual chart, and chart-specific factors can soften or sharpen the general register.

How long does Saturn stay in each sign?

About two and a half years on average, since Saturn's orbital period is roughly 29.4 years and there are twelve signs. The actual duration in any one sign varies because Saturn retrogrades for about four and a half months every year, and a retrograde loop near a sign boundary can split an ingress into a first entry, a retreat and a final entry spread across nine or more months, exactly as happens with Aries in 2027 and 2028.

Which houses matter in a Saturn transit?

Three counts matter. First, the house Saturn occupies from your ascendant, which names the life area under structural load. Second, the houses it aspects: classical teaching gives Saturn full aspects on the 3rd, 7th and 10th signs from wherever it sits. Third, the house it occupies from your natal Moon, which is the sade sati count. The ascendant count is primary for concrete life areas and the Moon count for the emotional and mental register; windows flagged by both counts are conventionally read as heavier.

This page presents conventional Vedic transit teaching applied to Saturn's 2025 to 2030 sign passes, computed sidereally with the True Pushya Paksha ayanamsa via Swiss Ephemeris. Boundary dates depend on the ayanamsa convention and differ from Lahiri-based listings by design. Structural windows are context, not guarantees, and individual charts vary in ways a sign-level page cannot capture. This page does not constitute financial, medical, legal or personal advice.
